Bio

Dr. Anthony C.K. Kakooza is an Advocate whose credentials include a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University, a Master of Laws Degree from Warwick University in the U.K and a Doctorate Degree in Law from the University of Illinois in the U.S. Both his LL.M and J.S.D (Doctorate) degrees were focusing on Intellectual Property Law. He is very passionate about Intellectual Property Law and has been teaching and practicing in this area for over sixteen years. Dr. Kakooza is a Partner in the law firm of Byenkya, Kihika & Co. Advocates in charge of the IP docket. His academic footprint is currently at Makerere University, Uganda Christian University and Visiting Professorships held at Cornell Law School and University of Illinois in the U.S as well as Masaryk University in the Czech Republic. He is the current head/Convener of the Intellectual Property Cluster (2021-2022) of the Uganda Law Society and has been branded as “the Godfather of Intellectual Property law in Uganda” by the 2021 issue of the World’s Leading Trademark Professionals (WTR 1000) Magazine. He also undertakes I.P consultancies for URSB, ARIPO and WIPO.
