Bio

Ssewakiryanga James Junior also known as Ssewa Ssewa is a Ugandan multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, Inventor, Innovator and Educator. He leads his audiences into the enticing and soulful African music culture with traditional instruments, songs and stories from his homeland, weaving these traditions together with a modern and global sound. Ssewa Ssewa’s music is about social issues, diversity, global issues, Economic developments and Empowerments. Ssewa Ssewa performs, does schools and community music workshops, Motivational talks and collaborations. He has Shared stages with various music icons like the Legendary Steve Miller band, Richard Bona, Hugh Masekela, Oliver Mutukudzi, and Mafiki Zolo. His performances feature an array of instruments like; Janzi, Endongo, Adungu, Endingidi, Akogo, Amadinda, Engoma , Mbira, Kamele Ngoni and Percussions. Ssewa Ssewa founded Janzi Band in 2009. Janzi is Among Uganda’s most celebrated musical voices, fusing traditional Ugandan/African sounds and contemporary music with a dream team of some of the country’s most gifted and energetic musicians. They represent a new vanguard of Ugandan performers steeped in the music of their homeland with ears open to the world
